Joist Design Management System Establishes Internet Presence

The Joist Design Management System has been developed to assist professional engineers who require copies of analytical stress analysis and design calculations for special engineered open web steel joists, joist girders, A Frame joists, Bowstring joists or special steel trusses. The design system uses Excel type data entry forms as a means to enter the design parameters to be considered in the stress analysis and design calculations. The data entry forms have divisions for the entry of basic information, special loads, special end panel and webbing configurations and special panel depths  The data entry forms also have a simple drawing to assist in the entry of the required end panel and webbing configurations. The resulting design calculations will be based on Steel Joist Institute design calculations and will be stored on a secure JDMS server as a Microsoft WORD document file.A link to the file will be sent to the user via e-mail within minutes of the data submittal.  The design calculations will be based on Allowable Stress Design (ASD) per AISC/SJI specifications and will use standard AISC Angles for Top and Bottom Chords and single or double angles for all Web members.
